Nintendo Swings positive Thanks to Switch Console
Japanese video game giant Nintendo returned to the black for the quarter ended in June thanks to the success of its new Switch console.
Nintendo recorded an operating profit of $144.95 million (5.13 billion yen) for its fiscal first quarter, compared with a year-ago loss of 24.5 billion yen. Revenue jumped 150 percent to $1.37 billion (154.07 billion yen), the company said Wednesday.
The Kyoto-based company sold 1.97 million Switch consoles in the quarter, taking its total sales to 4.7 million units. Nintendo has been unable to keep up with demand for the hybrid home-portable console, and stores in Japan have been operating lotteries for customers to get the chance to purchase one.
The success of the console, along with that of mobile game Pokemon Go, have helped push Nintendo’s stock price up 60 percent over the last year. Its market value exceeded that of Sony Corp. last month. However, Sony stock has also been on a tear — the company has more recently pushed its market capitalization to around $51 billion, compared with $45 billion for Nintendo.

Nintendo is forecasting sales of 10 million Switch consoles for the full fiscal year to March 2018 and operating profit of 65 billion yen ($580 million at current rates).
The company was late to move into mobile gaming, but revenue from titles including Super Mario Run, along with IP licensing, rose 450 percent to $80 million (9 billion yen) for the latest quarter.
Nintendo’s stock closed up 1.3 percent at 35,770 yen ($320) in Tokyo before the earnings announcement.

Authorities in Georgia arrested Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf early Saturday morning on suspicion of obstruction, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after he reportedly harassed a random stranger for refusing to give him a cigarette, then berated the police for asking him to stop.
“He became disorderly, using profanities and vulgar language in front of the women and children present,” police said in a statement. “He was told to leave the area and refused, becoming aggressive toward the officer.”
The statement added: “When the officer attempted to place LaBeouf under arrest, LaBeouf ran to a nearby hotel. LaBeouf was arrested in the hotel lobby, where his disorderly behavior continued.”

This was not the first brush with the law for the actor, whose behavior seems to have grown worse since the election of President Donald Trump, whose agenda he strongly opposes.
Authorities arrested him about six months ago when he tussled with a man outside of an anti-Trump art exhibit he had set up in Queens.
When the man approached the exhibit, LaBeouf reportedly pushed him away and then pulled on his scarf, scratching the victim’s face in the process.
He was arrested shortly thereafter.
The art exhibit had been part of a now-defunct project where LaBeouf broadcast a live video stream and encouraged participants to congregate around the camera and repeatedly chant, “He will not divide us.”
Four months later, the Hollywood actor was sued by a Los Angeles bartender who he had reportedly accosted at a bowling alley a month prior..

Candice Wiggins was a college star at Stanford, the third pick of the 2008 WNBA draft and a 2011 champion. And at the mountaintop of her basketball career, her sexuality marred the moment.
There is a “very, very harmful” culture running throughout the WNBA, she says, which saw her get bullied during her eight-year career because she is heterosexual.
Wiggins, who last played in the league in 2015, said she retired prematurely to leave a league that she estimated — wildly — is 98 percent lesbian, and which is played in such isolation that it weighs on the people on the court.
“It wasn’t like my dreams came true in the WNBA. It was quite the opposite,” Wiggins said in an extensive San Diego Tribune story published Monday. “… I wanted to play two more seasons of WNBA, but the experience didn’t lend itself to my mental state. It was a depressing state in the WNBA. It’s not watched. Our value is diminished. It can be quite hard. I didn’t like the culture inside the WNBA, and without revealing too much, it was toxic for me. … My spirit was being broken.”
The 30-year-old couldn’t take it anymore — being harassed for being straight and fighting for attention in a league that is starved.
“Me being heterosexual and straight, and being vocal in my identity as a straight woman was huge,” Wiggins said. “I would say 98 percent of the women in the WNBA are gay women. It was a conformist type of place. There was a whole different set of rules they [the other players] could apply.”
Wiggins, who played for the Lynx, Shock, Sparks and Liberty, claimed the issues revolve around the lack of attention the league has garnered as the WNBA struggles with ticket sales and TV ratings. For the 2016 season, the WNBA said its average attendance was 7,655 — its highest since 2011.
“There was a lot of jealousy and competition, and we’re all fighting for crumbs,” Wiggins said. “The way I looked, the way I played – those things contributed to the tension.
“People were deliberately trying to hurt me all of the time. I had never been called the B-word so many times in my life than I was in my rookie season. I’d never been thrown to the ground so much. The message was: ‘We want you to know we don’t like you.’ “

CNN continues to censor best-selling author from its network
CNN, the most anti-Trump network on television, is censoring the #1 bestseller of the Trump presidency.
CNN apparently so fears author David Horowitz and his new book “Big Agenda: President Trump’s Plan to Save America” — they have told his publisher they will “never” have him on!
That’s shocking because Horowitz is a celebrated author and thinker — and his “Big Agenda” book has been sitting at the top of the New York Times bestseller list for over 9 weeks!
It’s also #1 on Amazon, and everyone in Washington and around the country is talking about “Big Agenda”!
Obviously, what America thinks doesn’t matter to CNN — because it’s radioactive for liberals — with CNN joining a list of other left-leaning networks like CBS, NBC and ABC that have put Horowitz on “the list” of banned conservative books and authors.
Remember the days when the liberals decried conservatives for supposedly creating such lists — they even called it McCarthyism!
Now, when the liberals do it to one of the most important books of the Trump presidency, and to an author close to the president and his top aides — he is censored.
This prompts the question: Why do CNN and the big media fear David Horowitz and “Big Agenda”?

Bill Paxton Succumbs to Complications During Heart Surgery
Bill Paxton lost the fight of his life during the past month. He was always the guy in the area that looked and acted like the bully. However, many of Bill Paxton’s roles that he played over the years were very varying and humble. I initially remember him as the bully brother in the his cult move, Weird Science
of the mid-80’s. In that move he is transformed into something that his personality portrayed in the film. It was classic Bill Paxton.
There are hundreds of other films that Mr. Bill Paxton will be remembered for. There was recently a touching tribute given to him from one of his latest starring roles in the television show Training Day. I’m sure his experience will be missed on the set of that particular new show. Have a peak below at some of the Bill Paxton content I was able to find in the Google-verse.

Disney finally drops Youtuber for anti-semitic rants
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that popular YouTube personality PewDiePie (Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg) has been dropped by Disney after stirring up controversy with anti-semitic video content. The Journal says that Disney told the publication it was cutting ties with him after reporters reached out to the company to inquire about the YouTuber’s use of Nazi imagery in recent videos.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Disney found the content in the videos to be “inappropriate” and that’s why the company is severing ties with him. The report cites several incidents and includes footage of the anti-semitic content, including a video from January 11 where Kjellberg watches two men hold a sign up that says “Death To All Jews.” He later created a video defending himself, claiming that media was mischaracterizing him.
The publication notes that YouTube has declined to comment on Kjellberg’s comments. Maker Studios, the video distributor for Kjellberg’s content, was purchased by Disney back in 2014.

Seems like brands are finally coming around to taking anti-Semitic tweets and jokes for real. I’m not a fan of Disney or the foul mouthed YouTube’s mentioned in the article.
He got just what he deserves. Now maybe Disney will start cleaning up it’s lineup of alternative lifestyle laden shows as well.

Some of Netflix is now available offline
Commuters rejoice! Netflix has added the option to download content to your phone or tablet. The option is available for Netflix’s own shows — Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things, The Crown, Narcos, and others — as well as select movies and TV shows, with the company adding that it will offer more titles for offline viewing in due course of time.
Once downloaded, you’ll be able to avoid using your data to play shows while using public transit, and also able to watch your favorite Netflix shows or movies when you’re outside your carrier’s coverage area and away from Wi-Fi.
The Netflix app now offers an “Available for Download” section that lists all the titles available for offline viewing. You’ll be able to download videos in either Standard or Higher quality, and all downloaded content will be accessible from the “My Downloads” section.
