American Swimmer Faced Off Against Russian Rival She Openly Mocked. There Could Only Be One Outcome

On Sunday evening, American swimmer Lilly King issued a challenge of sorts to rival swimmer Yulia Efimova.

After a recent doping scandal that also stung six other Russian swimmers, Efimova was granted an appeal that allowed her to compete in Rio despite a suspension. King was not terribly impressed — especially when Efimova celebrated following her qualifying heat.

Lilly King doesn’t hold back.

On Sunday, King said:

“Ya know, you’re shaking your finger ‘Number One’ and you’ve been caught for drug cheating, I’m just not a fan.”

But on Monday evening, both swimmers appeared for their face-off in the finals of the women’s 100 meter breaststroke — and their qualifying times placed them in adjacent lanes.

And in a tight race, separated by only a fraction of a second, King edged out the competition.

When asked if she felt her swim had “made a statement” in light of her earlier challenge, King shrugged and responded:

“Hopefully. I hope we showed that [Americans] can compete clean and win at the Olympic games.”

Immediately following her gold medal — and Olympic record — finish, King passed on congratulating silver medalist Efimova to share the moment with fellow American and bronze medalist Katie Meili.

Michelle Responds to Critics Who Think Barack Obama is Muslim–And Takes a Shot at Trump

Michelle Obama received a raucous welcome at the Democratic National Convention.

Following remarks about the difficulties of parenting two children while living at the White House, she took a clear shot at Donald Trump:

Donald Trump, before running for president, made several comments about the “birther” controversy, which claims Barack Obama was actually born in Kenya. The reasoning goes that if Barack Obama were born in Kenya, he would not be a “natural born” citizen, and therefore, would not be eligible for President.

In 2012, Donald Trump even offered President Obama five million dollars to release his passport and college records. The White House responded to birther critics by releasing Barack Obama’s “long form birth certificate.”

Barack Obama has faced his fair share of accusations that he is actually a Muslim. In 2011, Donald Trump said the following:

“He doesn’t have a birth certificate. He may have one, but there’s something on that, maybe religion, maybe it says he is a Muslim,” Trump told Fox News in 2011. “I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t want that.”

It’s clear that the controversy aggravated Michelle Obama so much she felt compelled to address it during the DNC speech.
