BREAKING: 3 Police Officers Killed, Multiple Injured In Dallas During Black Lives Matter Protest

Multiple officers have been shot during a Dallas BlacksLivesMatter rally protesting the recent officer-involved shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

NBC 5 reports Dallas Police Chief David Brown has confirmed the deaths of 3 officers, with several more injured:

“Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally. Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition. An intensive search for suspects is currently underway. No suspects are in custody at this time. We ask that any citizen with information regarding the shootings tonight call 214-671-3482.

We will provide more information once it is available. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tonight.”

Protests in downtown Dallas on Thursday evening began peacefully:

Multiple videos have been uploaded to Twitter and Facebook with a slew of gun shots ringing.

Earlier in the day, the Dallas Police Department posted this Tweet.

At the time of publication, the situation was still considered active and no shooter had been identified or detained. This story may be updated as more information becomes available.
