The “Choose Civility” campaign of Freeborn County, MN thinks the controversial rocker, Ted Nugent, isn’t suitable entertainment for their county fair.
The group has launched a public protest for him to be removed from the performing lineup.
Nugent is known for his explicative way of speech— his most famous debacle being in 2007 when he called President Barack Obama a “piece of s**t.” The singer didn’t stop there, also referring to the president as a “communist educated sub-human mongrel.”
Former teacher Jennifer Vogt-Erickson, reports a CBS local site, wrote a letter to the fair’s board of directors explaining the many grievances against the singer:
“The fair reflects the values of the entire county, and having Ted Nugent perform at the fair would reflect tolerance of racism, anti-Semitism, misogyny, xenophobia, ableism, and incivility toward people who protest his remarks or cancel his shows… Belittle, dehumanize, invalidate, repeat… This is clearly beyond political differences. It’s about defending community standards of civility.”
The fair, which has a contract with Nugent, has responded by explaining they couldn’t cancel the show even if they wanted to.
Nugent himself has declared the public outcry against his performance as a sign he’s doing “God’s work” in a recent Facebook post.
The post reads:
“Clearly I am doing God’s work as the America hating lying Saul Alinksy scumdogs are all pissed off! Remember, if you are not pissing off the assholes, you are an asshole! Glory Glory Hallelujah! Watch the devils squirm! Hopefully we will get photos/vid of the dopey protestors with their American Communist Party regalia xposing their disdain for personal hygiene. Precious!”
To date, Nugent’s show is the only concert at the fair that is completely sold out.
