Today Show” co-anchor Tamron Hall has long been known for her sense of style and her dedication to the world of high fashion.
However, one set of accessories recently caused Hall to seek out a medical professional for ear reconstructive surgery.
The culprit? A pair of dangly earrings that the television host wore to the White House Correspondents Dinner.
These fashion-forward earrings ended up ripping her earlobes, are what sent her to the emergency ear repair.
Hall recently spoke about the ordeal during an episode of “Today.”
She described the incident in gruesome detail:
“The tear just kept going,” she said.
“So I had to have surgery on my ears.”
Tamron Hall didn’t go to a doctor, however.
She booked the reconstructive procedure with a specialist for these kinds of accidents:
“I went to a guy who’s known for body modification art because I heard he’s the best ear reconstruction person.”
“He’s not a medical doctor but he is famous for what he does.”
“He sewed both of my ears back, I had stitches.”
According to board-certified plastic surgeon Edward Miranda, a procedure to correct a torn or sagging earlobe can cost anywhere between $1,500 to $3,000.
In the immediate future, Hall will be avoiding the type of earring that caused her earlobe to tear off.
Meanwhile, women across social media have identified with the danger that wearing certain accessories poses.
This Instagram user responded to Hall’s photo with shared horror:
“I knew someone who got a dangle earring stuck in a car door.
Lots of stitches!! Ouch – just thinking about it!”
